Hello current and future Friends of the Saxonia House!

Ever since 1974, when I first saw the old Saxonia House country inn and brewery outside of Fillmore, Wisconsin, I have been intrigued with the mysteries and stories that could be discovered there.

What we’re working on right now

The Friends of the Saxonia House received a $50,000 grant from Washington County in 2024 to put together an authentic Norwegian Log Cabin which was moved from western Wisconsin. It is nearly complete. This building dates to the same period as the Saxonia House and will be used as an exhibit hall.

I
In 2025, we met a man who can log Tamarack trees to use as beams. Tamarack is the original wood Ernst Klessig and the builders used in the Saxonia House 171 years ago. We have established a "beam bank" to use for replacement beams when we do the house restoration.

We are planning exciting 2026 events, including food, beer, en plein aire painting, tours, workdays, and Oktoberfest. We very much look forward to meeting you at one or more events, and we hope you will get involved.
